Athea Coiste Main Page Athea Coiste na Nog news The Coiste na nÓg Committee and Coaches are charged with running all teams from U6 up to U16 level. We have in excess of 20 active coaches. Last year was a very busy year for the club, there being many highlights of which the U-16's were crowned 13 a-side County Champions in early September. Our U14's were crowned Division 3 Shield winners. Our U12's won the St. Kierans tournament. Our U10's were runners up in the final of the Billy Kirwin tournament in Foynes. Our U8's were also kept busy with numerous Blitzes and our U6's played their first match of the season against St. Kierans in September.
We had a good turn out for our A.G.M this year. Our chairman Paul Curry welcomed everyone to the Clubhouse. Our secretary John Hunt gave a report of the year gone by. John also thanked all the coaches and fellow officers for their commitment through out the year and also thanked anyone who helped out in anyway. Treasurer Majella Dalton gave a detailed account of the finances. The following officers were elected for 2012:
Hurling Training for U8's & U10's:
Hurling training will commence for U8's and U10's this Friday evening the 10th of February in the Hall from 7pm to 8pm. Anyone that has their own helmet please bring it, for those who do not have helmets they will be supplied along with special indoor Hurley's. The cost will be €2 per child.
Calendars:
Coiste na nÓg calenders are still on sale at Rose's shop, Paul Collins shop and from the coaches. The calendar contains pictures of teams from U6 up to U16. They cost €5 each and would make a lovely presents for people at home or abroad.
There will be a Coiste na nÓg meeting on Wednesday night 15th of February at 9pm in the Clubhouse. Anyone who is willing to help out this year especially with the U14's please come along.
Limerick Senior footballers got off to a great start in Division 4 of the National football league away from home when they defeated Leitrim in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada on a score line of 1-09 to 0-9.

Registration:
Registration for U-6's up to U-16's will take place on this Sunday 26th of February in the Clubhouse in Páirc na nGael from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Cost of registration is €25 for one child and €40 for a family of 2 or more. A refund amount of €10 will be offered to parent(s) who help out the club with fundraising during the year. For any child who will be registering with the club for the first time it will cost €15. Winners of the colouring competition will also be announced at 1pm on the day.
Fixtures:
Athea U14's are at home to Adare on Sunday morning the 4th of March at 11am in Páirc na nGael. All players to be a the field for 10:30am.
Colaiste Ide agus Iosef:
Best of luck to Colaiste Ide agus Iosef who are in the Munster Vocational school Senior B football final. They are playing Kanturk. On the panel from Athea are Ryan Carroll, Mark O' Connor, Denis Greaney and Kevin Mahony.
Speedy recovery:
The Club would like to wish Denis Greaney a very speedy recovery, Denis injured himself while playing with the Limerick Minor footballers. |
